Stroller SafetyConvenient and fun baby strollers are a modern necessity in raising newborn baby boys and baby girls. No longer ties to the traditional buggy carriage today’s strollers are designed for active parents, city slicker and country folk and models that can hold two or three kids at a time. Even with all the new design and mobility safety should be your primary focus.
No matter what type or model stroller you’re shopping for be sure to pick one that has a wide base. Most children will try to lean over and with a narrow stroller this can cause a tip over. With a wide base you won’t have to worry about his weight causing the stroller to tip and you’ll have a more solid foundation for terrain that is not as smooth as concrete or pavement.
Be sure your stroller has cushioned bumpers in the front and on the sides. Your baby will be curious about everything that is going on around him and it’s only natural to expect him to lean forward, turn his head from side to side and make sudden shifts in his seat. If you don’t have soft bumper to soften the blow he could easily bump his delicate head and cause harm. With soft cushions around his head you won’t have to worry about his curiosity getting the better of him.
Many modern strollers come with a wide variety of unique and fun accessories but try not to overload your stroller with all of them just because you can. Having a durable diaper bag that can carry diapers, changing pad, bottles and baby wipes is enough. Gadgets such as cell phone holders, mini-DVD players and iPod’s with speakers are nice but can easily distract you when your attention should be focused on potential hazards on the street or in a park.
Last but not least be sure your stroller is equipped with solid brakes. Whether you are stopped on an incline or not a stroller is on wheels and the possibility of it rolling away is very likely. All it takes is one moment for you to turn away and helplessly watch the stroller take off. With tested, secure back brakes you will rest assured your baby isn’t going anywhere without you.
